GHAZNI CITY (PAN): A two-day exhibition showcasing handicrafts, historic objects and books was inaugurated in southern Ghazni province Monday, an official said.
Arranged by the provincial Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department, the exhibition is aimed at introducing handicrafts made by the people of Ghazni and their old traditions to visitors, the department director Ghulam Sanaee Mayel told Pajhwok Afghan news.
He said the show would enable locals to introduce their handicraft skills to the world, hinting at similar events in future to restore the historical identity of Ghazni City, currently serving as the Asian capital of Islamic culture.
Gul Ghotai, an Andar district resident, who showcased her handicrafts at the show, said the government should help women find a proper market for their handicrafts.
About 70 stalls have been established at the exhibition being held at the Ghazni Gymnasium.
