KABUL): Twenty-two insurgents were killed during security operations and airstrikes in southeastern Paktia and central Maidan Wardak provinces, officials said on Wednesday.
In Paktia, six insurgents were killed in Sayed Karam district and as many in Aryub Zazai district during separate NATO airstrikes on Tuesday night, police chief Col. Mohammad Zaman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Meanwhile, three civilians, including two children, were injured when a roadside bomb ripped through a police vehicle in the Khwaja Hassan area of Gardez, the capital of Paktia, on Wednesday noon
Gardez Civil Hospital Director Haya Gul Paktin confirmed receiving three wounded people from the blast site. A security official, who did not want to be named, said a policeman was killed in the explosion.
In Wardak, 10 insurgents were killed and one arrested by Afghan soldiers in Sayedabad and Nirkh districts on Wednesday morning, the governor’s house said.
But a Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid rejected both reports as propaganda.
