GHAZNI CITY (PAN airstrike in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Thursday.
Police ambushed a car carrying four insurgents in Khashak area on Wednesday night, killing all of them, including commander Haji Khiyal, Police Chief Brig. Gen. Zarawar Zahid told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said Khiyal was involved in militant activities in Ghazni city. Police stayed unhurt in the incident.
Another 10 insurgents, including a commander, were killed during a NATO airstrike in Ashuqwal village of Andar district.
An official at the governor’s house, Nabi Jan, said the airstrike took place on Wednesday afternoon after the Taliban stormed an Afghan Local Police (ALP) post.
Commander Qari Naeem was killed along with his nine fellow fighters in the airstrike that left another four fighters injured, he said.
The official continued dead bodies of the insurgents remained at the scene and ALP members and civilians suffered no casualties.
