3 injured, shops burnt as fuel tanker explodes

CHARIKAR): Three people were wounded and several shops burnt after a fuel tanker exploded on Monday in Charikar, the capital of central Parwan provincial, officials said.

The shops caught fire after the explosion of a magnetic bomb attached to the tanker, the governor’s spokeswoman, Roshna Khalid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

She said the incident took place at 10:30am close to the provincial council office, burning five shops and two auto rickshaws.

Two men and a child had been evacuated to the Parwan Civil Hospital, Deputy Director of Public Health Dr. Musaddiq confirmed.

Mir Ali Ahmad, a puncture man, said his shops and equipment were burnt in the blaze, causing him a loss of 100,000 afghanis.

A footwear shop, motorbike workshop and a bakery were also burnt, he added.
