LASHKARGAH/CHAGHCHARAN (PAN provinces, officials said on Tuesday.
Up to 12 rebels were killed and 20 others wounded late on Monday during Operation Eagle by the Afghan National Army (ANA) in the Marja district of Helmand, the 215th Maiwand Military Corps said.
Two more insurgents were killed the Nahr-i-Saraj district and a third in Kajaki town, a statement from the corps said.
Four rebels were killed in an overnight clash with police in the Nahr-i-Saraj area of Greshk district, ANA commander Col. Abdul Sattar Noorzai told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The fighters were killed on the basis of an intelligence report that they planned attacks on police posts in Tabili, Sara Khakh, Haji Mohammad and Khair Mohammad villages.
Separately, three ANA soldiers were killed in Kunar, two in Faryab and a sixth in Uruzgan over the past 24 hours, a statement from the Ministry of Defence said.
In Ghor, one Taliban commander, Mullah Abdullah, was killed and another, Mullah Khairullah, was arrested during an operation in the Mask village of Pasaband district, said the police chief, Col. Dilawar Shah Dilawar.
