KABUL): The Ministry of Interior would share a comprehensive poll security plan with the independent Election Commission in a couple of days, an official said on Wednesday.
Ghulam Siddique Siddiqui, the ministry spokesman, told Pajhwok that the security plan would help ensure IEC staffers discharged their responsibility based on that strategy.
He added: “In this plan, we absolutely assure the commission that elections will take place in all parts of the country, where the ministry personnel will provide them security.”
At the moment only four districts were under threat from the insurgents, the spokesman said, explaining efforts were on to deal with the situation and pave the ground for inclusive polls.
Meanwhile, the IEC urged the government agencies concerned to ensure security for the presidential and provincial council elections, due in April 2014.
