KABUL): Documentary proofs of 72 lawmakers’ involvement in illegal activities are being provided to prosecutors and courts, a Ministry of Interior (MoI) official said on Wednesday.
Hours after being voted out by the Wolesi Jirga and other unlawful activities.
Addressing a news conference in Kabul, the MoI spokesman the ministry and other judicial organs were jointly working on the documents proving legislators’ links to a variety of crimes.
Ghulam Siddique Siddiqui, when asked to name the public representatives, said investigating their cases needed time. Revealing their names before the probe was completed would not be appropriate, he argued.
Separately, the Attorney General Office has asked Patang to submit the documents linking the parliamentarians to the illicit drug trade and espionage.
The spokesman said if the Supreme Court found the parliamentary decision as legally sound, Patang would not serve as an acting minister even for a single day.
