JALALABAD (PAN): Two insurgents were killed after they attacked a border police checkpoint in eastern Nangarhar province in the wee hours of Friday, an official said.
The militants stormed the police post in the Gurgure area of Haska Mina district at 1am. Four attackers and three policemen were wounded in the ensuing clash
Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News police successfully beat back the assailants.
A police official, meanwhile, said on condition of anonymity the bodies of four fighters killed in the gunbattle were still lying at the scene. He said the injured policemen were in stable condition.
On the other hand, that Taliban claimed killing or wounding seven policemen in the attack on the Gurgure border post. The hour-long predawn clash left three police personnel dead and four others injured, the group said.
