KHOST CITY (PAN’s decision unseating interior minister Mujtaba Patang.
The council chief, Syed Karim Khan Khaksar, told Pajhwok Afghan News the lower house’s decision was unjust and unacceptable to the people of Khost.
He said the decision was wrong because the country needed an experienced minister at a time when presidential elections were approaching and foreign troops preparing to leave.
“I strongly demand the decision should be reversed and Patang should be given another chance as interior minister,” the public representative said.
Eng. Mazar Ali Khostai, speaking on behalf of tribes, said the decision to sack Patang involved personal interests of lawmakers. He alleged most MPs worked for their own interests and had nothing to do with people’s welfare and national interests.
Female member of the council, Zuhra Jalal, said parliamentarians had failed to devise a strategy on how to steer Afghanistan out of crises. She said the Wolesi Jirga sacked a minister every month because it was in the interest of MPs who used various pretexts to do so.
She said if lawmakers had any concern about problems facing their constituents, they should find solution to them. The protest rally emerged from the provincial council office and culminated at the Adalat Square.
The participants issued a five-article resolution, urging President Karzai and the Supreme Court to use their powers and reinstate Patang.
