TALUQAN (PAN): A bomb blast killed a policeman and injured two others, including a civilian, in the Bangi district of northern Takhar province, police said on Wednesday.

A bomb disposal squad was busy defusing a mine when another remote- controlled bomb went off, killing a policeman and injuring an intelligence officer and a civilian.

Police spokesman Abdul Khalil Aseer told Pajhwok Afghan the injured were rushed to hospital, where doctors said they were in stable condition.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the target was the district police chief. He claimed three policemen were killed in the attack.
