KUNDUZ CITY (PAN-designated district chief was among four insurgents killed during an operation in northern Kunduz province in the wee hours of Friday, a police official said.

Qari Attiqullah, the Taliban chief for the Khwaja Ghar district of Takhar province, was killed along with his accomplices in the Nahr-i-Kohana area of Dasht-i-Archi district of Kunduz.

Police spokesman Syed Sarwar Hussaini told Pajhwok Afghan News five suspects were detained during the predawn raid by Afghan Special Forces. The operation is still ongoing.

Sheikh Sadruddin, the district’s administrative head, confirmed the operation was in progress.  He had no information about casualties, saying Taliban’s military commander for Khwaja Ghar Amaruddin was among the detainees.
