HERAT CITY (PAN): Hundreds of kilograms of drugs destined for neighbouring Iran have been seized in the Ghoryan district of western Herat province, police said on Saturday.
The opium, weighing 330 kilograms, was recovered from a house in a remote area of the district on Friday evening, police spokesman Col. Abdul Rauf Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Col. Sakhi Hussaini, the district police chief, confirmed the seizure, saying the opium was to be smuggled to Iran. No one has been detained in connection with the smuggling attempt.
