KABUL’s female footballers triumphed 1-0 over Kyrgyzstan in a friendly encounter as part of preparations for the 2013 South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Gold Cup, an official said on Sunday.
Afghan coach Yousuf Kargar told Pajhwok Afghan News the match played on Saturday in Kyrgyzstan was part of friendly matches between Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
Sajia Sahar, who struck the game’s only goal, led the home side to victory. Afghanistan will take on Tajikistan in another tie on Monday, said Kargar, who is visiting the neighbouring country along with the 18-member squad.
Warm-up matches would continue for a week in the lead-up to the 10th edition of the SAFF Gold Cup scheduled to begin on August 31 until September 11 in Nepal.
