SHIBERGHAN/KUNDUZ CITY (PAN, officials said on Monday.

One militant and one Afghan Local Police (ALP) member were killed and another ALP official wounded during a clash in northern Jawzjan province late on Sunday.

Police official Col. Abdul Manaf Raufi told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash broke out in the Sher Baig village of Qush Tepa district, where a bomb was found in a grave dug for a slain ALP member.

Raufi said Taliban prevented people from attending funeral prayers for ALP members.

In Kunduz, six Taliban insurgents and three ALP members sustained injuries during a clash in Dasht-i-Archi district.

The district police chief, Col. Hamid Agha, confirmed the firefight, saying the Taliban torched two ALP posts after they were abandoned to avoid civilian casualties.

The Taliban said two ALP members were killed and their posts destroyed during the attack.

Meanwhile, five people were arrested over alleged connections with insurgents during an operation in Aliabad district on Sunday night, said the police chief, Col. Abdul Majeed.
