KUNDUZ CITY/SHIBERGHAN (PAN): Police shot dead a Pakistani militant during a clash in northwestern Jawzjan province, while five civilians suffered injuries in a grenade attack in northeastern Kunduz, officials said on Sunday.
Kunduz police spokesman Syed Sarwar Hussaini, however, told Pajhwok Afghan News two people were wounded in the grenade attack in Kunduz City, the provincial capital.
He said a motorcyclist lobbed the grenade toward a passing police vehicle in the area before noon.
But an eyewitness Roohullah said residents took five injured people to hospital from the scene. He said two of them were apparently in critical condition.
Police clashed with a group of insurgents in Aqcha district of Jawzjan early on Sunday, police chief Col. Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani said.
A Pakistani insurgent was killed during the clash and police recovered a rocket launcher, a machinegun, two Kalashnikovs and a walkie-talkie from the attackers, he added.
Aqcha district police chief was also lightly wounded in the firefight.
