LASHKARGAH (PAN): One football player was killed and three others were wounded in a traffic accident in southern Helmand province, officials said on Monday.
The players represented the Greshk Club that won an eight-team soccer tournament last night, the Afghanistan Olympic Committee head for Helmand said.
Mohammad Idris Alizai told Pajhwok Afghan News Majidullah, 18, was killed and three of his teammates were wounded when their vehicle collided with a tractor.
He said the wounded footballers were under medical treatment at the Emergency Hospital in Lashkargah, the provincial capital. They are said to be in stable condition.
Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, verified the incident, saying the victims were members of the triumphant Greshk Club.
