LASHKARGAH (PAN): A female police officer, who came under attack from unidentified gunmen in Lashkargah on Sunday, has succumbed to her injuries, an official said on Monday.
Nigar, the women police chief in Helmand, breathed her last at the Emergency Hospital in Lashkargah, in the wee hours of Monday, said the governor’s spokesman, Omar Zwak.
Police spokesman Shah Mohammad Ashna told Pajhwok Afghan News 2nd Lt. Nigar had been in charge of women police for the past two months. Several suspects have been detained in connection with her murder.
She was shot with a silencer near the Zargaran Market, a high-security area of the provincial capital. The assailants on motorbikes managed to escape.
About two months back, a woman police officer had been killed in a similar assault in Lashkargah.
