ANA soldier guns down US counterpart

GARDEZ (PAN): An Afghan soldier shot dead his American counterpart before being killed in return fire in southeastern Paktia province on Thursday, officials said.

A police officer told Pajhwok Afghan News the latest insider attack happened in Girda Serai district in the morning.  He said the incident was under investigation.

Meanwhile, the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF.

“The scene of the incident is secure and the suspected gunman has been killed. ISAF and Afghan officials are assessing the incident and more information will be released as appropriate,” the NATO-led force said in a statement.

Earlier in the week, two international troops had been killed in a similar shooting in Gardez, the provincial capital.
