HERAT CITY (PAN): A district police chief on Saturday said he had survived a roadside bombing but his vehicle was partially damaged in the attack in western Herat province.
Shindand police head Col. Mohammad Ghaus Malyar told Pajhwok Afghan News his vehicle struck the roadside on the way to Bala Shahr area, where he was to attend a meeting.
Elsewhere in the province, local Taliban commander Aziz was killed along with his father during an overnight police operation in Guzra district.
Provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Rahmatullah Sapi, said eight rebels were wounded during the raid that did not harm police and civilians.
