KABUL, on Wednesday.

Eight people were killed in an explosion near the Customs House in Chaman town on the border, reported DawnNews, monitored here in Kabul. Sixteen others injured in the explosion.

The border had been closed as a result of the blast, which came hours after a roadside bombing in the quake-hit district of Awaran, the private TV channel said

At least two soldiers were killed and four others wounded when their vehicle struck the landmine in Mashkay area. The soldiers were carrying out relief activities.

Mashkay is one of the worst-hit areas of Awaran, which was almost flattened by a 7.7-magnitude earthquake on September 24. The army is facing problems in providing relief to the victims due to insecurity in the district.
