HERAT CITY (PAN): Three policemen lost their lives to separate incidents of violence in western Herat province, while four road construction workers have been kidnapped in northwestern Badghis, officials said on Saturday.
Insurgents stormed a police post in Keshk Kohna district of Herat early on Saturday, killing two policemen, police spokesman Col. Abdul Rauf Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the attackers also suffered casualties after the police returned fire, but exact figures were not immediately known.
A third policeman was killed in the same district when a roadside bomb ripped through his motorcycle.
In Badghis, gunmen seized four workers of a road construction company on their way home in Kurkh district on Friday, a security official in Herat said, but declined to be named.
A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, said four policemen were killed during a clash in Shindand district.
