HERAT CITY (PAN): A 13-member insurgent group, led by two commanders, reconciled with the government in western Herat province, an official said on Saturday.
Led by commanders Malook and Mullah Ghulan Sarwar, the provincial peace committee chief.
The surrendering commander, Mullah Abdul Karim, confessed to his group’s involvement in insurgent activities at a ceremony also attended by foreign troops.
He said as foreign troops were preparing to leave Afghanistan by the end of 2014, they decided to renounce insurgency.
