Fuel tanker torched, 4 police injured

PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN-Baghlan highway in  two separate incidents, officials said on Sunday.

The fuel tanker, going from the Sher Khan Port to Kabul, was attacked in the Chahar Maghzak Square in the northern part of Salang Pass at 2am, the Khinjan district chief said.

Abdul Alim told Pajhwok Afghan News the tanker belonging to a private company was completely burnt. Without giving details, he blamed the Taliban for the predawn attack.

Elsewhere in the province, four policemen were injured when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in Baghlan-i-Markazi district, police spokesman Javed Basharat said.

Two police officials, who sustained serious injuries, were rushed to the Kunduz Civil Hospital, confirmed Dr. Khalil Naramgo, in charge of the surgery ward the at the Baghlan-i-Markazi Hospital.

A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said two policemen had been killed, six others injured and their vehicle destroyed. He added the fighters also killed two intelligence operatives in Baghlan-i-Markazi district two days ago.
