Lightning leaves policemen dead in Nuristan

ASADABAD (PAN): Two policemen were killed and 11 others injured when their checkpoint was struck by lightning in eastern Nuristan province, an official said on Sunday.

The freak incident resulted from heavy thunderstorm and rains in the Kordil area of Wama district on Saturday night, the district police chief, Abdul Qayyum, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and their condition was said to be stable.
