SHIBERGHAN (PAN): A young woman suffering from a psychological ailment committed suicide by shooting herself with her father’s pistol in northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Saturday.
Capt. Abdul Latif, crime detective chief at the provincial police headquarters, told Pajhwok Afghan News Suraya -- who married one and a half year ago -- shot herself dead at his her father’s house last night.
After being informed by a member of the victim’s family, police found the 25-year-old dead and recovered the pistol used in the incident. The woman died after shooting herself in the head.
He said the victim’s father, Col. Zahir, was police chief for Khamabad district. But he refused to speak to this news agency about the incident.
One of the woman’s in-laws said on condition of anonymity that Suraya had been suffering from a psychology disorder. Having no children, her husband is an employee of the transport department.
Meanwhile, Jawzjan Civil Hospital Director Dr Muhammad Haroon confirmed receiving the woman’s body. He said the body bore no signs of torture.
