HERAT CITY (PAN Zarghon districts of western Herat province began on Tuesday, an official said.
Public Works Director Habibullah Timori told Pajhwok Afghan News the project was estimated to cost $9 million provided by the Public Works Ministry.
A local construction company had been contracted to complete the asphalting project in one year, he said.
A tribal elder from the area, Haji Akbar, said the road’s reconstruction would help residents of the two districts to get their transportation problems resolved.
He hoped the project would also enable farmers to transport their agriculture products to the market and eventually improve their economic situation.
Local officials said residents had promised keeping security for the road project on which 250 people would be engaged.
The public works director said asphalting roads in Ghoryan, Shindand and Chisht-i-Sharif districts was in progress.
