GHAZNI (PAN): An advisor to the governor of southern Ghazni province has fled after withdrawing $41,000 from the Bank a few days back, officials said on Saturday.
Safiullah Ibrahimi has escaped with the funds meant to fund salaries of the provincial governor’s nine advisors. There has been no information regarding his whereabouts, said Shafiq Nang, the governor’s spokesman.
Deputy Governor Muhammad Ali confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News the incident but gave no details about the theft.
Two years back, another advisor disappeared while accompanying the governor on a visit to the US. It is said that he later illegally entered Canada.
