Backed by coalition forces, police, army and intelligence personnel conducted the clearance operations to clean several areas of terrorists, the Ministry of Interior said.
The operations were conducted in Helmand, Laghman, Kandahar, Logar, Uruzgan, Herat and Ghor provinces, a statement from the ministry said.
At least eight fighters were wounded and seven others caught alive. The security forces also seized ammunition and explosives.
On the other hand, the Taliban rejected the claim as groundless. The rebels said they had killed a number of Afghan and foreign soldiers in a string of attacks in different provinces.
According to the ministry statement, Kabul police detained eight individuals involved in kidnap, murder and theft cases. The arrests were made in 6th, 7th, 8th and 11th police districts of the capital.
