KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): In a successful military operation, a kidnapped National Solidarity Program (NSP) official has been rescued from his captors in northeastern Kunduz province, officials said Saturday.
Mumtaz Kakar, NSP community development council head, was kidnapped by the Taliban, said Abdul Rahim, the district chief.
He said Kakar had been kidnapped on allegations that he worked for the government, adding Karkar’s release was secured before his execution due on Friday.
“I was abducted on the charge of spying (for the government) but I told them I am not affiliated with anyone,” Kakar said after his release in the military operation. He said he was thankful to the government for his timely release.
Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
