Putting up a brave fight, Afghanistan posted a challenging 137-8 in their 20 overs, which Pakistan managed to overhaul for the loss of four wickets off the penultimate ball of the match.
Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez kept his nerve to finish with 42 not out as Pakistan needed six off the last over.
Umar Akmal made a six 22-ball 28 with two sixes.
For Afghanistan, Najibullah Zadran (38) and Mirwais Ashraf (28 not out) led their team’s batting to guide them to 137-8 in 20 overs.
Junaid Khan (3-24) and Sohail Tanveer (2-11) shared the bowling spoils for Pakistan.
