KABUL): Five people were killed and 30 kilograms of drugs seized during separate incidents in Ghazni, Helmand and Uruzgan provinces, officials said on Saturday.
Three public order police were killed when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in the Shahbaz Khan area on the Kabul-Kandahar highway, the governor’s spokesman on Saturday morning, Shafiq Nang, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
In central Helmand province, 30 kilograms of drugs were seized by police in Khanshin district on Friday, said a border police official, Lt. Col. Abdul Ahmad Ahmadi. One suspect was arrested in connection with the drugs.
Separately, two mine planters were killed when the explosives they were planting went off prematurely in Tirinkot, the capital of central Uruzgan province, on Friday night, said the deputy police chief, Mohammad Aslam.
