ISLAMABAD (Pajhwok): Three militants and two civilians were killed on Friday in separate attacks in Pakistanis port city of Karachi and the Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, officials said.
The insurgents, including the Tehrik-i-Taliban’s chief for Karachi Amanullah Mehsud, were killed in a police encounter in Musharraf Colony, police said.
Mehsud was eliminated along with Mirza Ali and Sher Mohammad, a day after a powerful explosion claimed the life of senior police official Chaudhry Aslam Khan.
In Future Colony area, a local leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) was injured when unknown men attacked his house with a hand grenade.
In the restive northwest, gunmen shot two workers to death at a small Sufi shrine. The victims’ bodies were found at Ghazi Shah Baba’s tomb in Mardan.
