ISLAMABAD (Pajhwok): Six people were killed and two others wounded in a bomb attack in Pakistan’s northwestern picturesque valley of Swat on Sunday, officials said.
Police said the remote-controlled blast in the Martong area of Shangla district targetted the convoy of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s advisor Amir Muqam.
Malakand Deputy Inspector General Abdullah Khan told journalists three policemen and as many civilians were killed in the twin blasts. But the advisor escaped unhurt.
Muqam, who had gone to Martong to resolve a dispute in between two families, was targetted on his way back. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
A leader of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Muqam expressed his grief over the loss of lives. He said that he had received multiple threats prior to the attack.
