LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): A radio reporter has been found dead under mysterious circumstances in southern Helmand province, officials said on Friday.
Noor Mohammad Noori, who worked for the Bost Radio, was found dead by police on the outskirts of Lashkargah, the provincial capital, at around 8:30pm last night, officials said.
His body had been shifted for a postmortem to the Emergency-run hospital, where Governor Mohammad Naeem and other officials paid visits on Friday
Talking to Pajhwok Afghan News, the governor said the circumstances surrounding Noori’s death were unknown, but an investigation had been launched to find out who killed him and why.
Another official Amar Jan Agha said the reporter’s body was found in a bag dumped on the city’s outskirts.
Abdul Salam Zahid, a staffer of the radio, told Pajhwok Afghan News Noor, who had previously worked for The New York Times newspaper, had been running a religious programme on the radio.
Pajhwok Afghan News and BBC reporter Abdul Samad Rohani has alos been killed in Helmand by unkown gunmen still on the loose.
