KABUL (Pajhwok): A senior Ministry of Defence (MoD) official on Sunday warned of multiple security problems, specifically in logistical supply and technical fields, if the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) was not signed with the US.
Brig. Gen. Mohmand Katawazai, the deputy chief of logistical operations at MoD, told journalists there were no such problems at the moment and his troops had adequate weapons and ammunitions throughout the country.
“We have to calculate and distribute logistical support to the army personnel across the country. We will be able to more easily transfer supplies if we conclude the security deal with the US,” he believed.
As an armed force, the Afghan National Army (ANA) wanted early inking of the security pact because no country could work independently without foreign support, the official remarked. He feared a cut in foreign aid would put the government and ANA in trouble.
