ISLAMABAD (Pajhwok): The trilateral summit being held in Ankara would help maintain peace and stability in Afghanistan hoped on Thursday.
Islamabad had always been supportive of reconciliation in Afghanistan, the Foreign Office spokeswoman, Tasnim Aslam, told a media briefing in Islamabad.
“Peace in Afghanistan will also have a good impact on Pakistan,” she said, adding the 8th summit was being organised at a time when security and political transitions were taking place in Afghanistan.
With Afghan presidential and provincial council elections scheduled for April 5, NATO-led forces are to draw down from the country at the end of the current year.
Saudi Arabia Prince Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud, who is scheduled to visit Pakistan from Feb. 15 to 17, will meet Pakistani leaders on the situation in Afghanistan.
