TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): A policeman was killed along with two guests in a Taliban attack on a checkpoint in the Deh Rawud district of central Uruzgan province, an official said on Friday.
Aminullah Khaliqi, the district’s administrative head, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants stormed the police check-post in Dehzak area around midnight.
Other policemen manning the checkpoint were on a patrol of the area at the time of the insurgent strike, he said.
Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, a Taliban spokesman, said the attacker was a militant who had infiltrated police ranks. At least three policemen were killed and five weapons seized in the incident, he claimed.
