LASHKARGAH/ASADABAD (Pajhwok): A dozen militants have been killed and four others wounded in separate clashes with police in Kunar and Helmand provinces, security officials said on Saturday.
Kunar police chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Habib Syedkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News nine Taliban were killed Friday evening when they attacked security patrol in the Gulab Pari area of Sarkano district.
But Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman, claimed eight security forces and three Taliban were killed in the clash.
In another clash, security forces killed three Taliban and wounded four more in the Khusk Aabi area of Lashkargah, the capital of Helmand province, said Col. Abdul Ahad Chopan, the police spokesman.
