KABUL’s stability.
The HPC supported all attempts at ending the war and bloodshed, strengthening national sovereignty and bringing peace, a press release from the council said.
Last week, a number of ex-Taliban officials — led by Mutasim Agha Jan — attended a meeting in Dubai. The Afghan Taliban should follow the Pakistani Taliban in holding peace talks with the government, they agreed.
The press release added the only way to sustainable peace was direct dialogue between Afghans and respect for all citizens of the country.
The HPC called direct talks a guarantee of preventing foreign interference and uniting the nation, stressing efforts in this regard as a national and religious responsibility of all — especially religious scholars, political experts and elders.
HPC also welcomed peace talks between TTP and the Pakistani government, hoping Afghan Taliban would also do their best to the end war.
