Karzai to inaugurate varsity in Kandahar

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): President Hamid Karzai has arrived here to open the country’s first-ever agricultural university in southern Kandahar province, officials said on Saturday.

A source in the governor’s office confided to Pajhwok Afghan News a number of national and foreign dignitaries were accompanying Karzai.

He is to inaugurate the Indian-funded Agriculture Sciences and Technology University, a $100 million project. Its building is yet to be constructed.

Classes will be arranged at the Agriculture and Livestock Institute, built by Canada, for two to three years until the building is constructed.
