KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Three policemen were killed and two others, including a civilian, wounded in a bomb blast in the Khanabad district of northern Kunduz province on Saturday.
Hayatullah Amiri, the district’s administrative head, told Pajhwok afghan News that a patrol vehicle hit a landmine, killing three policemen and injuring two others.
But provincial police spokesman Syed Sarwar Hussaini said one civilian was among the injured. Police had intensified an offensive to purge the area of saboteurs ahead of the elections, said Hussaini.
As usual, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the blast and said six policemen had been killed and four others injured in the incident.
