KABUL organisations visited lawmaker Baktash Siawash on Monday when his protest entered a fifth consecutive day. He has been demanding compensation for families of dead and wounded security personnel.
The legislator has been protesting against the government’s indifferent approach to the families of the soldiers, who lost their lives in defence of their motherland.
Siawash established the protest camp outside the Parliament House to press the government to consider his demand. Speaking to Pajhwok Afghan News, he vowed to continue his strike until the government assured him to extend financial support to the families of slain soldiers.
Civil society activists and youth were joining his protest, the parliamentarian said, adding the number of tents, each housing five individuals, had surged to seven.
Abdul Rashid, a former officer at the Ministry of Interior who joined the protest camp, said he had sustained injuries in his legs five years back in a blast in Paktia province, but the government did not bother to compensate him.
