KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Directorate of Security (NDS), the spy service, on Saturday claimed foiling a string of possible suicide and terror attacks in southern Helmand province.
In a statement, the NDS said its agents had seized an explosives-laden vehicle and three bomb-rigged bikes and recovered four suicide vests, one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) launcher, two machineguns, four AK-47 assault rifles, a pistol and other explosives.
However, the statement did not say when and how the explosives were confiscated, but added militants were plotting to target government offices and election candidates campaigning in Helmand.
The statement said three suspects had been arrested in connection with the seizures.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the issue.
