JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Four Afghan army and two police personnel were killed on Saturday when a booby-trapped bomb they were attempting to defuse exploded in eastern Laghman province, an official said.
The blast occurred in the morning when the security officials tried to neutralise the roadside bomb they discovered in Safi area of Mehtarlam, the provincial capital, the governor’s spokesman said.
Sarhadi Zwak told Pajhwok Afghan News four Afghan National Army service members and two policemen, including an Afghan Local Police (ALP) member, were killed and two others were wounded.
A fifth ANA soldier was killed in a separate incident, the Ministry of Defence said in a brief statement, which issued no details about the time, nature and location of the incident.
