JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A lawmaker and his two guards sustained injuries on Saturday when the vehicle they were travelling in struck a roadside bomb in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said.
Abdul Ghaffar, who represents Nangarhar in the parliament, was travelling in the Behsud district along with some guards to meet friends when came under attack, the district chief said.
Haji Sadiq told Pajhwok Afghan News Ghaffar and his two guards were injured in the explosion that occurred around 2:30pm.
Dr. Humayun Zahir, the provincial civil hospital director, said Ghaffar was discharged after treatment.
Halim, an eyewitness said, it was a powerful that completely damaged the MP’s vehicle.
Ghaffar, who is member of Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal’s led Hezb-i-Islami faction, has been campaigning for presidential contender Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.
