KABUL replacing outgoing Mohammad Sadiq Khan in Kabul, an official said on Sunday.
Akhtar Munir, attaché at the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Sunday was Khan’s last day in office as the Pakistani ambassador to Afghanistan and he left for home after the embassy staff bid him a farewell.
He said the Pakistan Foreign Ministry had appointed Ibrar Hussain, a resident of Peshawar, as new envoy to Kabul. Hussain was expected to arrive in Kabul soon to assume charge, Munir said.
He said Hussain had been Pakistani ambassador to Kuwait before serving as the Consul General in Kandahar.
The new ambassador had also served as the Afghanistan’s affairs in-charge at the Pakistan Foreign Ministry.
