HERAT CITY (Pajhwok) Nine Afghans deported from Iran have died in a traffic accident in western Herat province,a health official said on Sunday.
Mohammad Rafiq Sherzai, the provincial hospital’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the overnight accident occurred at 10:00 pm on the Herat-Islam Qala highway.
A Toyota car collided with a truck, leaving all the nine Afghans dead on the spot. The car they were travelling in was damaged, Sherzai said, adding that the dead had been forcibly expelled by Iran.
A number of Afghans have lost their lives in traffic accidents in areas near the border with Iran, or killed by Iranian border guards.
