LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Hundreds of policemen on Monday completed an election security course in southern Helmand province. Presidential and provincial polls are slated for April 5.
Addressing the passing-out ceremony, Training Centre Commander Abdul Mohammad Zafarkhel said the policemen had been taught how to ensure security of polling stations.
The graduates included 270 sergeants and members of local as well as regular police, he said, adding that they would be deployed to different parts of the province.
Deputy police chief, Brig. Gen. Nasrullah Garmseri, said the force had become more professional. They did not face any major problems in conducting operations without support from foreign troops, he added.
One graduate Omar Rahman said he had learnt a lot during the training course. “I would love to serve the nation by providing election security,” he remarked.
