ISLAMABAD (Pajhwok): Pakistan will spur economic cooperation between the neighbours.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, at a meeting with Afghan Ambassador Janan Mosazai in Islamabad on Saturday, said the two nations had common religious, social, cultural and religious heritage.
State-of-the-art equipment would be provided for the Nishtar Kidney Centre in Jalalabad on fast track and human resources explored jointly, the minister said.
Mosazai briefed Dar on the follow-up to the Joint Economic Commission (JEC) meeting in Kabul. He called the kidney hospital a signature project, which would strengthen bilateral friendship.
He also briefed the finance minister on the forthcoming presidential elections. He said the Independent Election Commission would ensure transparent polls, followed by a peaceful transfer of power.
“We need to devise a mechanism for implementation of the decisions made by the Joint Economic Commission,” the envoy suggested. An implementation committee of technical experts be tasked with enforcing the decisions, he said.
