QALAT (Pajhwok): Police detained two would-be suicide bombers riding in an explosives-laden vehicle in southern Zabul province, thwarting a possible terrorist attack, an official said on Wednesday.
Another two persons in the car were shot dead in Shahjoi district of after they tried to escape, Zabul police chief Brig. Gen. Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the incident took place in the Bostankhel village on Tuesday. The two men gunned down appeared to be guiding the detained bombers toward the intended target.
The police chief said 800 kilograms of explosives and two suicide vests were recovered from the pair.
Rogh Lewanai added one militant was killed and two others were wounded after they were spotted planting roadside bombs in the Shahr-i-Safa district on Tuesday night.
